My feet pounded over the wet cobblestones as I ran headlong down the dark street.

Shadows stretched everywhere, hiding the details of the city.

I was lost.

Impossible.

I'd lived in Xanim my entire life—how could I be lost?

The whisper floated on the wind.

My heart raced in my chest as panic consumed me. I couldn't escape the feeling that I was being hunted, relentlessly pursued by something sinister. Each step I took echoed loudly, amplifying my fear.

The air grew heavier, thick with a metallic scent that made my stomach churn. It wrapped around me like a suffocating shroud, mingling with the sharp tang of fear-soaked sweat. I could hear the creature's ragged breaths behind me.

I stumbled upon an alleyway that was bathed in an eerie glow from a flickering street lamp. A small comfort in the darkness.

Gasping for air, I pressed myself against the cold wall, but I knew I couldn't hide.

Not from him.

My heart pounded against my ribcage as I strained to listen for any sign of pursuit.

Silence surrounded me, broken only by the distant hum of the city. Tremors wracked my body as adrenaline coursed through my veins. My trembling hands clutched the silver knife that Vivienne had given me—the only thing standing between me and the dark fate that awaited.

The air crackled with tension as I strained to hear any signs of pursuit. Shadows danced ominously along the alley walls and cast sinister shapes that seemed to move with a life of their own.

Then, from the depths of the darkness, a figure emerged—a tall silhouette with eyes gleaming like coals in the night.

Radomir.

His presence alone exuded malice and sent shivers cascading down my spine.

"Nowhere to run now," he hissed, his voice laced with venom.

I raised the silver knife in defiance, its glinting blade poised for defense. "Stay away from me!"

Radomir's lips curled into a cruel smile before he lunged towards me with inhuman speed. Instinct took over as adrenaline surged through my body. With every ounce of strength I possessed, I swung the knife toward him, but this time he dodged out of the way and grabbed my wounded shoulder—I screamed in pain and tried to wrench myself away from his grasp, but his fingers tightened and pressed into the wound.

"Where is she," he hissed. "Tell me—"

"Let me go—" I choked out.

"I thought I'd killed you once before," he mused. "But you're stubborn." His fingers twisted in my shoulder and I screamed again. "You'll tell me where she is, and then I'll make her watch you die all over again—"

"I'm not—"

"You are—" his guttural hiss filled my ears. "Lily—"

I woke with a scream on my lips as pain scorched through my body. The remnants of the nightmare still clung to me, the image of the creature's silver claws etched in my mind. It felt so real, so terrifyingly vivid.
